Why doesn't my Honda lawn mower start after replacing crankshaft?

I replaced a crankshaft on my Honda HR216 Lawn Mower and now it doesn't start. What did I do wrong? Replaced the spark plug and the air cleaner to no avail. HELP. With all this rain I will have to get a few goats to keep my lawn in good shape.

Check the timing! The most common mistake when reassembling a honda! Bring the piston up to "Top Dead Center". Remove the camshaft pin. Align the "Horizon Lines" on the cam gear along the edge of the head. Reinstall the pin. Replace the cam cover. Congratulate yourself on a job well-done!

There must be something else wrong with it.

Old gasoline will stop any lawn mower every time. If the engine is not gunked up, you should try some fresh gasoline.

CHECK IGNITION POINTS FOR RUST OR DIRT. ALSO CHECK POINTS CLEARENCE, TOO WIDE,NO SPARK . USE A BUSINESS CARD TO CHECK CLEARENCE (THICKNESS IS JUST RIGHT)

The four main components for a four cycle engine is fire(spark), fuel, compression and to be in time.

First off - why did it need replacing? Did it break or get bent somehow? If something major happened to the crank, meybe theres other underlying issues inside the motor. When you replaced the crank, on the flywheel side, did you install a new flywheel key? Those can only be used ONCE- its the whole purpose- to shear if theres a problem to avoid damaging the motor. Id recheck all the work youve done, and make sure . To be honest, if something goes bad inside a motor, like a crank or rod- Its cheeper in the long run to just get a replacement motor. Kidd

If you didn't get the low oil senor plug back up it won't start! Good Luck!
