What type of power steering fluid goes in a 1992 Mercedes Benz 400e?

When I say I have a place to buy either, I mean I am ready to buy either synthetic of non-synthetic Mercedes-Benz specific power steering fluid. I just need to know which kind is specific for my vehicle. Synthetic or non-synthetic? Only answer if you know which one it is. I has a place to buy either one, but don't know which it is.

You could go to your local MB dealer and ask for the MB power steering fluid or you could use Amsoil power steering fluid. I own two 300SE's (1988 1989). I myself use the same fluid I put in my transmission Shell Merc/Dex III. Shell is the original manufacturer for MB power steering fluid. In the 2001 E Class owner's manual, it says MB Power Steering Fluid (000 989 88 03). However, in the Factory Approved Service Products released in Nov 2001, it says: E-Class MB Power Steering Fluid MB Part no. 000 989 88 03 or an approved Dextron III ATF Also, if you are a DIY'er I would recommend investing in one of the manuals (last link below) from Bentley publishers. I myself have used the Owner's Bible (obtained from my local library) and it is a great resource.
